Go Go Gadget

My "financial advisor" has put me on a strict budget - I am so bad with money - and he's sooooo strict. It's like having a personal trainer at the gym, shouting ...shall we say... words of encouragement at you from the side of the treadmill, except with him it's the ATM.

Anywho, I'm only two days in but it's working out great and it's actually been a lot of fun planning a menu, shopping as frugally as possible and (see below) going back to baking.

BTW the cake was superb - so good in fact, I made another one today.

Now, that I've wiped up the drool, what was my point? Oh yes, my gadget! A few Xmases ago my uncle bought me a present. That in itself is unusual, it's the only one he's ever bought me but the present itself turned out to be a plastic bag sealer!! It's one of those that actually sucks all the air out of the bag before sealing so it keeps food unbelievably fresh but it's one of those gadgets that you think to yourself "Hey, this is neat! Now, at the back of which particular cupboard can I lose this neat little gadget?"

And of course that's just what I did until last night when I was making packed lunches for us all and suddenly realised I hadn't bought any sandwich bags. Oh oh, disaster! But wait, as I frantically searched cupboards for something to wrap my butties in, I stumbled across my bag sealer, perfect timing!

So after sucking every single molecule of air from around my piece of home made sponge cake and deftly sealing the bag with the application of a little heat, I'm all packed and ready for work tomorrow and my go-go gadget has pride of place in my kitchen (next to my picture of Bill Shankly).

I feel like a domestic goddess - which is so lame because I'm really not but this is the most mumsy/domestic thing I've done since I gave birth so just humour me won't you? :-D

It's great that you are taking a pro-active step, as hard as it is. I'm glad that you are seeing benefits. Keep it up!

Heavens, A Financial Adviser huh?

I hope he has a hide of steel, a unflappable mind, and a inner strength to withstand the "Lilliebet Lashing"

No, seriously, Hope it goes well and you find financial freedom

You can joke, but many a man would sell his granny for even the merest chance of a Lilliebet Lashing. ;-)

Hoorah for you. I have been avoiding my financial advisor. He keeps sending me letters to remind me to make an appointment. But seeing that there is no money to advise me on, why bother??

Ah well, therein lies his skill.... he's showing me how to make best use of what little I have and, most importantly, how to exercise self-control when it comes to my spending.

Not an easy task!
