Are they doing this on purpose?
I swear the Australians have done this by design. Exactly like the Rugby League Tri-Nations earlier this year. They played like puddings throughout the series, putting England in a great position, only to step up a gear in the final match and put us right back in our place.
268 for 2... oh woe is me!

Maybe if the UK focused on less talk and more practice and resources, then they would achieve more in cricket, football and rugby.

You might be right jamal. It might also be nice if our government put some money and our schools put some effort into teaching sport. Life can't all be about books and learning.

It appears to be a perennial state within the English phyche. They have this idea that you don't completely annihilate the opposition.
Although this has its roots back when England ruled over half the world (and subsequently gave it all up), it still persists in English sport today.
They seem to lack the killer blow on too many occasions

Maybe so, that remains to be seen. We definitely have a talent for turning a drama into a crisis. But sport is that for me, a drama played out on the field rather than the stage. Whichever way it goes, this has been one of the best Ashes series ever and I'm loving every minute of it.

Crisis, what crisis?
The final test was always going to be at the mercy of the weather. Australia let themselves go 2-1 down with only a probably draw left to play for.
I call that a sound thrashing.

You know what Gerald, I like your way of thinking. hehe!
There are more elements to cricket than just bat and ball. The state of the pitch; the light and, by association, the weather are also part of the game and something that should be factored in by both captains.
Makes sense to me anyway.

Golly, you lot are coming up with some great situations to dig yourself out of, if the spin of the ball goes the other way.
England don't look that secure just yet. Why is it that you celebrate before the job is done?
